Xara Website Optimization

Having written articles and contributing to the Xara ‘Talk Graphics’ Forums on the subject, I have a lot of experience in optimizing Xara generated websites.

It is unfortunate that Xara themselves have not taken the opportunity to make some common optimizations in the software when the pages and images are ‘rendered’ into web pages. Although Xara does optimize images somewhat better than some other software, the images can still contain unnecessary meta data and can typically be compressed at least 10-20% further without loss of quality.

Although the improvements that can be made to the Xara generated websites also apply to many other websites, I concentrate on the aspects of most Xara generated websites that will give the best improvement to the visitor experience and I am sensitive to the fact that you may wish to change and republish the website without going back to scratch, so I also accommodate this using my own custom techniques.
